Ways to prevent a car accident
Distracted driving is one of the biggest causes of car accidents. Avoid anything that takes your attention off the road, such as loud music, conversations, eating food or texting. If you go out and plan to drink alcohol or consume drugs, use a ride-sharing service or a designated driver to avoid driving impaired.
Weather conditions also play a significant factor in accidents. Check the forecast before your excursion and drive carefully in slick rain, sleet or snow conditions.
Maintain your vehicle in good working condition and often check your mirrors, lights, tires and brakes. Look for any recalls on your car and make sure to address design defects.
Utilize defensive driving techniques to minimize the risk of injurious or fatal car accidents.
